MAKING OF... HP-6-Trailer (Half-Blood Prince)
The project
1100 pictures in total, 2272x1704 pixels per frame, all done with a Canon A 520,
were neccessary, including the digital make over. This also allowes digital
zooming and panning without quality loss. In particular this was neccessary for
the green screening, therefor I made 35 Photoshop-files with many (!) layers . In total the project uses 5.5 GB
and it took from September 07 to Februray 08... 6 month work for 3.4 minutes ;)
Making of video
Here you can have a small overview about the effects and sets. This small video

Making of Hogwarts-Express (pictures)
The last ride of the Hogwarts-Express - I wanted to use this scene also in "Halb Blut Prinzen". The scene was designed like the Lego one, but because of lag of stones, slightly altered. Instead of the bridge, here he moves along a digital lake.
Sky and mountains were added afterwards.

Hagrids burning hut (pictures)
One of the few action sequences which really touched me. Hagrids hut was there
all of the time, but now it is history. I had no set of the hut, so the scene
was made completely digital. I made the background with a picture of the hut in
front. And I finilized it with the fire. Also the "Todesser" were done with greenscreen. In total the scene had 9 layers in Adobe Premiere.

Dumbledores grave (pictures)
The biggest an most importand scene in the books is the dead of Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts. These Scene was made infron aof bluescreen. I inculded later the Mountains, heaven, the castle and the wood.

Making of Hogwarts (Set)
Of cause I don´t have such a huge set of the castle. All the opening and panorama shots were mirrored and photoshoped to make everything look biger. For closeups I built and extra set, to make it look like being over the roof of the castle.

Movie-Score
What does this mean? This trailer does not use any copyright protected music.
But I still wanted to keep the Potter-style. I got Steffen Troeger (Go!LeGo) for this poject. He made the complete score! And this was at times very annoying for him because I called him often by phone when I had special requests for the score... But he did an amazing job to transfer the feeling and style of the original score. And THAT´s what you can enjoy in the trailer !
